Ben Golub, President and CEO

Ben is the President and Chief Executive Officer for Gluster. For five years prior to joining Gluster, Ben served as the President and CEO of Plaxo, a social networking infrastructure pioneer backed by industry luminaries Michael Moritz (Sequoia), Ram Shriram, Globespan Capital and Cisco. Ben led Plaxo through a complete turnaround, bringing the company to profitability, over 20 million users, and a large and successful acquisition by Comcast Interactive Media. Prior to Plaxo, he held a number of executive roles at VeriSign including Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President/General Manager of the Enterprise Security, SSL and Payments divisions. Before VeriSign, Ben held a number of product development, operations and business development roles at companies such as Avid Technology and Sun Microsystems. Ben holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Masters in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy from Princeton University and serves on a number of for-profit and non-profit boards including TrustE, BlueSwarm, and Partners for Youth with Disabilities.

Hitesh Chellani, VP Operations

Hitesh has been leading the overall strategy and business execution for Gluster since co-founding the company with AB in 2005. Prior to Gluster, he was at California Digital Corporation where his role was business development and systems engineering. During his tenure at CDC, Hitesh managed the system integration facility that deployed the ‘Thunder’ supercomputer at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory which at the time was the second fastest supercomputer in the world. Prior to Gluster, he co-founded two trading companies in Dubai UAE where he managed business development and sales. Hitesh began his career as a software engineer for Tata Unisys in India. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Engineering from Bombay University.

Anand Babu (AB) Periasamy, CTO

As CTO and Co-founder, AB sets the vision and strategy for the Gluster product platform. Prior to Gluster, AB served as CTO at California Digital Corporation, where his work led to the scaling of the commodity cluster computing to supercomputing class performance. He drove the adoption of cluster computing and GNU/Linux at enterprise data centers and helped close strategic accounts at CDC. In 2004, AB led the development of the world’s second fastest Supercomputer “Thunder”, for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. AB also serves on the board of “Free Software Foundation – India”. He is the author / contributor of various other Free Software projects like GNU FreeIPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface), GNU Garp (Gratuitous ARP Daemon), bios-config (edit/replicate CMOS parameters), librpci/hdb (RPC interpose for GNU Hurd) and Hymn/PlayFair (iTunes ripper), GNU Freetalk (Scheme extensible messenger for Jabber, Google talk), and Freehoo (Scheme extensible messenger for YahooIM). He holds a Computer Science Engineering degree from Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu, India.

Dave Garnett, VP of Product Management

Dave brings 15 years of product management experience to Gluster and is responsible for ensuring that Gluster’s products continue to stay at the leading edge of the scale-out storage industry. He brings a broad background in technology startups as well as public companies. Prior to Gluster, Dave lead Hewlett-Packard’s Cloud & SaaS strategy, successfully transitioning legacy on-premise software to the cloud. Previously, Dave was co-founder and VP of Product Management at Axcient where he architected the world’s first hybrid SaaS for data protection, application continuity and disaster recovery. Dave began his career at Digital Data Storage and has held several other executive positions with successful startups. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from Santa Clara University.

Lori Budin, VP of Channels and Partnerships

Lori is responsible for providing the vision and direction for all Channel activities at Gluster.  Prior to joining Gluster, she was the CEO of Channel Fundamentals, a company she founded and ran for 6 years that offered organizations help in developing and implementing profitable channel strategies, building high-performance channel programs and driving channel sales results for both Pre-IPO startups to market-leading corporations.  Lori has held leadership positions with VeriSign (acquired by Symantec), Proofpoint and IBM.  She received her BA from Pennsylvania State University.

Mike Backlund, SVP of Sales

Prior to joining Gluster, Backlund was senior vice president of worldwide sales at Baynote, Inc., a provider of personalization and digital marketing optimization solutions, where he grew revenue by 57 percent in 2009 and 75 percent in 2010. During his time at Baynote, Backlund also held the position of interim CEO.  Previously, Backlund was CEO at Quorum Labs and built its sales organization, recruited initial partners, and productized and launched the company’s first solution. Throughout his long career, Backlund also held executive sales positions at open source pioneer SpikeSource as well as Computer Associates. As SVP of Field Operations at Interwoven, Mike led the company from less than one million to over $200 million in annual revenue and a successful IPO.

John Kreisa, VP of Marketing

John is responsible for all marketing activity at Gluster and brings more than 20 years of enterprise software experience to the team. Prior to joining Gluster, he was the vice president of marketing at Cloudera, the leading provider of Hadoop-based software and services. During his time there, he managed all corporate marketing activity including communications, social media and product marketing and managed an aggressive community outreach program through user group sponsorship, community events and speaking activity. Prior to joining Cloudera, John worked at MarkLogic, an XML database provider, as director of product marketing and directory of industry solutions. Throughout his career, John has held a variety of marketing roles in start-ups and large enterprise software companies including industry leaders such as Business Objects (acquired by SAP). He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the University of Texas, Austin.
