Gluster Named Finalist in TiE50 Best Companies Award

Innovative scale-out cloud storage company announced as finalist in TiE Silicon Valley’s premier annual awards program

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – April 18, 2011 – Gluster, the leading provider of scale-out, open source storage solutions for public and private clouds, has been named a finalist in TiE Silicon Valley’s TiE50 awards that recognize top technology startups in segments including Internet, energy, wireless/mobile and software. Since its inception in 1992, TiE50 winners and finalists have received over $20 billion in funding and 42 companies have been acquired, merged or went public. The official awards ceremony for winners will be held at TiEcon, the world’s largest conference for entrepreneurs, taking place May 13 – 14, 2011 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif.

Recognizing the inability of hardware storage vendors to fill the gap of storage innovation in the public and private cloud environments, Gluster delivered to market the Gluster Virtual Storage Appliances. Gluster Virtual Storage Appliances provide enterprises with the ability to linearly scale-out NAS (network-attached storage) capacities from a few terabytes to multiple petabytes, realizing the benefits of linear performance increases and overall reductions in storage hardware costs. With Virtual Storage Appliances, it is possible to manage the explosive growth of unstructured data in a unified global namespace in public or private cloud environments.

“Gluster is honored to be named a TiE50 finalist, and it’s especially fitting because our open source cloud technology helps to level the playing field for entrepreneurs like the ones served by TiE,” said Ben Golub, president and CEO at Gluster. “Over the past few years Gluster has continued to achieve year over year growth, and our innovative storage solutions have been proven to enable companies of all sizes and across many industries to ensure their storage infrastructures are highly available, highly scalable and highly affordable.”
